Governance & Compliance form one of our four core areas of interest. Since 2009, we have been focusing on two major thematic complexes in the area of governance & compliance in our activities:

First, from an interdisciplinary perspective, we address fundamental questions of the functional management and administration of organizations, as viewed from the standpoints of Good Governance, Corporate Governance, Compliance, and Organizational Theory. This interdisciplinary perspective includes insights from legal, political, sociological, and psychological viewpoints and aims at integrating practical experiences such as military command and control.

Second, we focus on selected areas of Governance and Compliance, with a special emphasis on transnational, cross-border, and cross-cultural governance & compliance issues.

Initially, this included export control law / strategic trade control, cross-cultural compliance management translating universal compliance rules to Southeast Asian realities, and transnational anti-corruption and anti-money laundering regimes. In recent years, the focus has increasingly been on Governance and Compliance with ESG principles, norms, and regimes, particularly regarding global supply chains.
