Investigation and Criminal Prosecution of Child Abuse: Investigators’ and Civil Society Perspectives
25 October 2019, Ploy Room, Hotel Windsor Suites, Bangkok
This workshop on “Investigation and Criminal Prosecution of Child Abuse: Investigators’ and Civil Society Perspectives” will focus on investigation practices in cases of abuse and exploitation of children, sexually or otherwise, against the backdrop of different investigation practices. The workshop will allow for an exchange of expertise in the realm of criminal investigations with experts from Thailand who will share some of their experiences and knowledge within the Thai context, and international experts sharing their experiences and knowledge in the field of criminal investigation in an international context. In addition to these aspects, the workshop will invite representatives of civil society and discuss how they are integrated into investigations in both contexts. The workshop will focus on the experiences in Thailand and internationally and backgrounds or experiences from different countries can be discussed by the participants, with a particular focus on cooperation across agencies and borders. In addition, the workshop also aims to explore how civil society can cooperate with liaison officers and embassies of other countries, for many of these crimes are committed across borders and jurisdictions.
