The European Union (EU) has launched a questionnaire to gather input for its new Helpdesk, supporting the implementation of the Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence Directive (CS3D).
This new directive, adopted in May 2024, requires larger companies operating in the EU to actively monitor their global value chains and take measures to prevent or reduce any negative impacts on human rights and the environmentโboth in Europe and beyond.
While companies outside the EU are not directly affected, those with more than EUR 450 million in turnover on the EU market may be required to comply with CS3D standards. Even smaller businesses may be asked to demonstrate sustainable practices if they are partners of EU companies.
To support this transformative effort, the EU is establishing a Helpdesk in partnership with several Member States. This Helpdesk will serve as the go-to resource for private sector actors and civil society organizations (CSOs) from partner countries of EU development assistance, offering:
๐นGuidance on CS3D requirements
๐นAccess to sustainability standards, supplier training, financing instruments, and networks
๐นInitial information and resources to help prevent and mitigate human rights and environmental impacts
How can you get involved?
The EU is seeking input to ensure the Helpdesk meets the needs of businesses and CSOs. Your participation in the questionnaire will directly influence the design of this essential support structure. Donโt miss the chance to share your insights and shape a resource that will support sustainable, responsible business practices globally.
