The Heinrich-Böll Foundation, has published its 2019 Plastic Atlas. “The Plastic Atlas has the hard facts, data and figures to prove that the story of plastic that industry is telling us is a myth. [It suggests] urgent and drastic reductions in plastic production and consumption and regulation at the local, national and global level that tackle plastic pollution at the source.”

Scholarship Opportunities 

The “ETH Zurich Postdoctoral Fellowship Program” supports incoming fellowships for postdoctoral researchers at the ETH Zurich. The program is intended to foster high-potential, young researchers who have already demonstrated excellence in terms of internationally competitive achievements in the early stages of their professional careers. Applications have to be made jointly by the candidate and their host who must be an ETH Zurich Professor and who will act as a mentor of the fellow. The DAAD Development-Related Postgraduate Courses offers foreign graduates from development and newly industrialized countries from all disciplines and with at least two years’ professional experience the chance to take a postgraduate or Master’s degree at a state or state-recognized German university, and in exceptional cases to take a doctoral degree, and to obtain a university qualification (Master’s/PhD) in Germany. The Friedrich Ebert Foundation Scholarship is aimed at supporting students from Africa, Asia, Latin America or Eastern Europe that intend to study in Germany in any subject area. The students must demonstrate excellent school or academic merit and must be committed to the values of social democracy. The Singapore Management University offers Overseas Postgraduate Scholarships which provide financial support to recipients to pursue an overseas research programme. The World Academy of Sciences offers various fellowships and grants to PhD candidates and postdoctoral researchers from developing countries. For more information visit https://twas.org/opportunities Deadlines vary.

Rotary Peace Fellowship allows up to 100 individuals from around the world to receive fully funded academic fellowships to pursue a Professional Development Certificate Program or Master’s Degree Program related to peace and conflict resolution and prevention at one of the participating peace centers around the world (USA, Japan, UK, Australia, Sweden, and Thailand). The Kennisontwikkelings programma Netherlands Fellowship Programmes (OKP NFP) provides fellowships for highly motivated professionals who are interested at participating in a Dutch University. The professionals must be in a position to introduce the newly acquired skills and knowledge into their employing organisation. The applicants must find a suitable university and submit your application via the Dutch institution offering the course. The ASEAN Master Scholarship is aimed at supporting students from ASEAN countries (Brunei Darussalam, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, and Vietnam) who intend to study at the University of Nottingham. You will be eligible to apply if you are classed as an overseas student for fee purposes and hold an offer to start a full-time master’s degree program (excluding MRes) at Nottingham in any subject area.
