CPG mourns the recent passing of Professor Dr. Robert Esser, Chair of German, European and International Criminal Law, Criminal Procedure and White-Collar Crime at the University of Passau.

From 2010 to 2015, Professor Esser served on the CPG Supervisory Board, representing his university, one of CPG’s founding cooperation partners alongside the University of Münster, Goethe University Frankfurt and Thammasat University. He followed Professor Rainer Wernsmann, also from the University of Passau, and was succeeded by Professor Niels Petersen from the University of Münster.

In 2012, Professor Esser hosted a memorable CPG Spring School on German and European Law for Thammasat University law students at the University of Passau. In Thailand, he will be fondly remembered by many alumni.
