CPG’s Constitutional Law & Politics / Human Rights Hub (CCHH), in collaboration with the Asian Governance Foundation (AGF), is scheduling an upcoming online panel discussion titled “Japan Under New Leadership: Challenges and Prospects in Domestic Politics and Foreign Policy,” scheduled on 24 October 2025.

This virtual event will provide a timely analysis of the dynamics and outcomes of the LDP leadership race and the upcoming prime ministerial appointment. It will examine the key factors behind Takaichi’s rise to power. The panel will also explore how the new administration may address Japan’s domestic political and economic challenges and assess how Takaichi’s leadership could influence Japan’s foreign and security policies, its relations with major partners, and its broader strategic role in the Indo-Pacific region.
