 Short description: Nepal faces political uncertainty as the Communist Party of Nepal (Unified Marxist-Leninist) withdrew from the ruling coalition, intending to form a new government with the Nepali Congress. This move challenges Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal, who faces a confidence vote on July 12. Nepal’s politics have been unstable since the monarchy’s abolition in 2008, with frequent government changes and corruption scandals. The webinar will analyze these dynamics and discuss prospects for sustainable governance.

 Dr. Pramod Jaiswal is the Research Director at the Nepal Institute for International Cooperation and Engagement, focusing on South Asian geopolitics and security issues. He has taught at universities in Nepal and China and holds fellowships in the US and India. Dr. Jaiswal is a prolific author and serves on multiple editorial and advisory boards. He earned his advanced degrees from Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi.
